ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER
[2024-6 COURT CLOSING ON MONDAY, APRIL 8, 2024]
This matter is before the Court regarding “The Great North American Solar Eclipse” anticipated to occur on April 8, 2024. We have been advised that Geauga County is in the “path of totality” and that the Geauga County Department of Emergency Services (DES) has estimated a 195,000 population influx into Geauga County. Based on their experience with the 2017 partial eclipse, DES anticipates” … great difficulties managing the mass influx and departure of the populous.” There is an eclipse watching event scheduled to occur in Chardon Square where the Courthouse is located. The Geauga County Sheriff and his Court Security Team have requested that the Court be closed that day.
For the reasons set forth above, the Geauga County Court of Common Pleas, General Division, will be closed for business on Monday, April 8, 2024.
